sustainability
BOD Bournemouth is situated in a beautiful seaside location and we are very conscious of our environment. We try to play our part in preserving it and hope you will help as well during your stay. We provide an "Eco Tips" sheet in the flat which you might find useful as well as our Sustainability Policy in the Welcome File.
Environment
We encourage our guests to recycle and we provide explanatory information in the flat. All our bins are labelled to help you.
We use energy-saving white goods. The combi boiler heats water when it is needed and heating is thermostatically controlled (radiator and wall). Doors are draught proofed and windows are double glazed. We encourage guests not to use standby. We use low energy LED lighting and outside lights have PIR’s. For laundry we provide outdoor drying facilities.
All our toilets are water efficient and we also have water saving taps and showers.

We minimise paperwork by working online and use recycled paper. Failed print outs are used as scrap paper. We use an eco friendly printer and we recycle toners.
We have provided a local public transport route planner (please see the Things To Do section) and there is extensive public transport information in the flat. We also encourage guests to use the local landtrain (which has wheelchair facilities).
We have developed over 20 “Car-Free Capers” which are fully accessible suggestions that do not involve a car.
Local Community
We are members of Friends of Fishermans Walk (Green Flag park next door) and Southbourne-on-Sea Traders Association. We have links with the nearby dialysis centre and provide details of local care organisations.
Local Economy
Our welcome pack includes goods that are made or bought locally. We also support local artists/photographers by using their works to provide decorations in the flat.
Social Responsibility
We support our social responsibilities through local and other accessible charities. For example we use the blind association for cleaning products and the nursery run by our local mental illness charity for plants. We also believe it is important to help with accessible holidays and support the Rainbow Trust and “Give Us Time” amongst others.
